Conan The Barbarian

Fantasy art hero Frank Frazetta was one of the most prolific visual artists who ever lived. Frank Frazetta grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Very quickly, at the age of 8, his parents and teachers alike, realized Frazetta’s emerging talent.

After deciding to enroll him in the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts he flourished in his art, notably under the tutelage of Michele Falanga, who became his first mentor. Frank Frazetta professionally entered the world of comics at the age of 16, in 1944. “Snowman” a 7 page short story created by Frazetta was published in Tally-Ho Comics with the help of John Giunta. After working with Fiction house for a few months, he began working with Standard Comics as an inker.

At this time he was offered work from Walt Disney but he preferred to remain in New York. Soon after he began his 10 year career with Al Capp. Once he left Capp he experienced a lull in his career but with the help of his best friend, Roy Krenkel, he was soon hired to work for Edgar Rice Burroughs illustrating iconic images of Tarzan. Frazetta’s popularity soared in the 60s and 70s with his artwork all over paperbacks such as Robert E Howard’s Conan series and featured on movie posters such as Clint Eastwood’s The Gauntlet.

Frazetta’s gorgeous depictions of muscle bound barbarians, frazetta girls, menacing monsters, mythical beasts and his very own villain, Death Dealer, have had a resurgence into pop culture in part by the dedication of the online brand Frazetta Girls, owned and operated by Frank Frazetta’s granddaughter, Sara Frazetta. Frazetta Girls, the lifestyle brand created by Sara Frazetta, has the mission of keeping his legacy alive for generations to come.

Since 2015, Frazetta Girls has been committed to bringing his iconic artwork to fine art prints, contemporary clothing, accessories and collectible items. The Frazetta Girls brand has collaborated with worldwide brands such as HUF, TASCHEN, KidRobot, Primitive Skate, HUF, Incendium and Death Saves. In the next coming years, Frazetta Girls will be releasing custom made statues, action figures, art books, comics, toys, and role playing games. The Frazetta universe is only just beginning.
